Chris Schope has worked within the Domestic Branch network for the past 20 years. Although having worked as a Retail Services Manager from ScotiaPlaza, managing Community Branches for the past 14 years is his expertise.

Service excellence is what is key to satisfying a client and maintaining a successful branch. Being recognized twice as "Best of the Best" among his peers supports his desire to look after the client. Being involved within his local community makes Chris available not only on the soccer field or hockey rink but at his branch.

ScotiaMcLeod was originally formed as a partnership in February 1921 by young entrepreneurs: Donald Ivan McLeod, William Ewart Young, James Gordon Weir and John Henry Ratcliffe, hence the company name McLeod, Young, Weir and Co. The foundation laid by these men was rooted in trust, financial expertise and innovation - strengths that have prevailed since.

By the 1970s, McLeod, Young, Weir was diversifying to offer a full range of investment services including bond, stock and money market trading, corporate and government finance, mergers and acquisitions, commodities and futures, personal investment services, mutual funds and various other specialty products.

In the early 1980s, the financial community called for deregulation of the industry. By 1987, the newly deregulated the investment industry was becoming highly competitive and the Bank of Nova Scotia decided that it wanted to get involved. The Bank purchased McLeod, Young, Weir because it was well established and respected in the industry.
